I HAVE A 94 SATURN SC1, 5SP, 130K MILES.
I STOPPED TO PUT OIL IN, LEFT ENGINE RUNNING AND AIR BLEW SOME OF THE OIL BACK OUT OF THE HOLE WHERE YOU POUR IT IN. I PUT MY HAND OVER THE HOLE AND THERE CONTINUED TO BE AIR BLOWING OUT OF THIS HOLE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. WHAT IS WRONG HERE? THE CAR OR ME?
It sounds like excessive blowby from worn piston rings, which could also be part of why you have to keep adding oil. The PCV system takes care of this but there is a limit as to how much it can handle. Even if the PCV valve is plugged, it sounds like too much pressure in the crankcase, for it to blow the oil back up at you.
You can check the PCV valve, and replace it if it is plugged, and that should help some. Other than that, just keep adding oil, its cheaper than an engine rebuild.
