Advice on aftermarket entertainment and navigation system for 2012 Kia Sedona

We just purchased a 2012 Kia Sedona minivan. For some reason Kia makes you choose between factory installed bluetooth hands free calling, factory installed GPS Navigation, and factory installed DVD player on the Sedona. You can get any one but not all three. We opted to get the Bluetooth built in and are now looking to add the other two aftermarket. We have a few preferences and I am hoping someone on the forum can suggest some products or other resources to help us find what we are looking for. We are hoping to find something (or some combination) with the following features:

  1. For the navigation system, we would like something to be installed in dash rather than a removable system. We need maps of the US and Canada.
  2. For the entertainment system, we want something where the “Screen” is mounted from the ceiling of the van.
  3. Our preferences is to get something that can play mp4 files or better yet will just accept an ipad or ipod touch as an input source. We don’t actually want to cart around a big load of DVDs .
  4. We would also like to be able to “load” media (either DVDs or other storage like connecting an iPod or USB storage) into something mounted in the dash rather than turning around to try and connect/load something into the DVD player.

Any advice on specific products or companies in the Washington, DC metro area that might be good to work with are appreciated. Thanks.

For your list, a custom auto-electronics installer is probably going to be what you want to do.

You might end up with a CarPC running a custom touch GUI.

Eyes on the road. Driving is made far more dangerous with all of those electronic distractions.
