The AC worked perfectly on my way to work this morning. At lunch time, kaput. The fan is not working at all. I think there might be cooling, but with no fan to blow it out, it’s hard to tell. What could have happened? 2003 model
Check the blower (fan) fuse. The owner’s manual should show you where it is.
Thanks. THe manual’s in the glove box. I’ll check that out this afternoon. I live in Florida. THank goodness it’s cloudy today.
It could be a bearing failure in the blower motor if it isn’t a fuse. It might be time to replace the blower motor. What kind of car is it?
It’s a 2003 Mercury Gran Marquis with about 64,000 miles on it. AC has been working fine until now. No early warning symptoms. Hopefully it’s the fuse. If not, I’ll take it to the mechanic.
The most common problems with that model are the connector to the blower motor speed control resistor (non electronic controls) or speed controller (electronic controls), or the blower motor itself.
It was a resistor in the blower. Problem solved.
