I have a '97 Mazda B4000. My AC only works when in the AC MAx position. When in normal AC position, it blows hot air. In fact when I put it in any other mode it blows hot air.
Any thoughts ?
It sounds like a problem with the control head. Or maybe just the mode selector switch. Swap it out with a junkyard replacement and see if it works. Or you could just buy a new one, install it, and be done. I don’t see what else the problem could be.

Sounds like you’ve got the infamous Ford broken blend door.
You can pay a mechanic around 800bucks to fix it or -if you are a fairly good DIY’er- you can fix it yourself for free.
