AC Compressorr

Can someone help me understand the difference between an AC compressor clutch vs clutch less? I’ve been trying to research info on it but been unable to do so. What’s the difference? When do you know when to install one?

Some variable displacement compressors do not have a clutch on the drive pulley, when cooling is not requested the wobble plate inside the compressor is adjusted to the neutral position. These compressors do not have a magnetic clutch coil, you will not find wires going to the clutch.

If the clutch were missing from a compressor that requires a clutch? On a clutch-less compressor the is no need to install a clutch.
