A lifeline for Rivian?

Rivian has been hemorrhaging cash for a few years, but this might help to save them.

It couldn’t hurt to have the extra business!

The Amazon contract expired and the vans are being sold to anyone that wants one. At a cost of $80K, comparable to the new postal vans, seems like the post office could have saved that $500M development fees they gave to Oshkosh and just bought these vans directly from Rivian.

Seems Rivian partnered with the company that made the las US postal van to make a boxy van for Canada’s postal service…..below

Glad that a good EV manufacturer has a chance at extended life. Hopefully this will lead to long term success.

I was sorry to see that GM discontinued its EV delivery van. That market seemed ideal for an EV.

Yet another one of GM’s numerous questionable decisions . . . or outright mistakes . . . over the years

I have no experience with the Corvette, but besides that, I’d only consider a GM pickup truck, not any of their other current offerings

GM is a big “what if” or “what was” tale at this point

Stay far way from the 6.2 L V8… they have been popping like Orville Redenbacher’s corn.

Yeah I was a GM fan, but I’m increasingly wondering if they are going to make it. So many blunders and wasted billions. A little better styling and concentrate on quality. Forget the software and glitz and provide drive trains that are dependable. I’m ready to buy but I’m afraid of them.

The only ones I’ve heard are having problems are the L87 version. Haven’t heard about any problems with the LT2 found in the C8 or the LT1 found on the C7.

I’m not currently looking to buy another vehicle

Washington state will allow direct to consumer. Sales of lucid and Rivian. No mention of start date but both have service locations already and at least for rivian an existing customer base. Specifically those two brands.

Tesla sells through company-owned dealerships. At first, they had storefronts in malls IIRC. Also, the salespeople are salaried employees without commission.

This will be similar, allowing company owned stores where they an deliver to customers and offer demi drives, have to go to Oregon to even drive a Rivian. Tacoma store is close to Lexus and Volvo and across i5 from Tesla 4 service centers in the Seattle, area, 3 of them education centers that can deliver vehicles.
