A/c in toyota corolla

i have a '97 toyota corolla. The a/c system seems to wrok fine as far as the ventilation and fans, the air that comes out just doesnt get cool. Does this have to do with the coolant level? If not is it most likely an easy fix or could it be more complex? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

It could ideed be low on refrigerant (not coolant, that’s in your radiator) and a A/C shop will quickly determone how much you need for topping up. It’ also possible that your compressor is worn out, but that normally is accompanied by grinding or squealing noises.

If the R134 is low, you will be out $50-$100 or so if there are no large leakds. Nearly all systems leak a little and periodic top-ups are normal.
