A/C in 2016 malibu lt

I just bought a 2016 chevy malibu Lt. As a single mom i find this car a beauty. And it only has 27,000+ miles! I noticed the car turns off at stops, i get that. But my a/c seems to decrease or increase on its own. Please tell me this is an eco thing, not something thats gonna cost more$$. Please help

Do you mean your car has auto start/stop?

As far as AC, if you are using the AC in automatic mode that is likely normal. There are different modes available. Do you have an owners manual? It explains AC operation.

If motor is off at stop how does the compressor run then? At stop? Can you turn off auto stop each time you drive? I think so. Might it be annoying? Maybe.

+1, on all counts.
The OP really needs to read the Owner’s Manual that was–hopefully–provided with the car. If not, then downloads are available. The manual would tell her how to turn off the auto stop/start feature. This involves the pressing of a button, resembling this, each time she starts the car:

As to the A/C, if the car has automatic climate control, the fan speed will increase/decrease on its own to maintain the temperature that has been set. But, in order to truly understand the functioning of the car’s A/C, the OP needs to peruse that Owner’s Manual.

That feature is available. If the tachometer shows the message “AUTO STOP” when the engine shuts down, then it does have tins feature. Here’s the section of the owner’s manual for auto start/stop. I don’t see a way to turn it off.

Auto Engine Stop/Start

When the brakes are applied andthe vehicle is at a complete stop,
the engine may turn off. When stopped, the tachometer displays

AUTO STOP. See Tachometer (Non-Hybrid) 0 116. When the brake
pedal is released or the accelerator pedal pushed, the engine will
restart.

Auto Stop may be deactivated if:

A minimum vehicle speed is not reached.

The engine or transmission is not at the required operating temperature.

The outside temperature is not in the required operating range, typically below 10 °C (14 °F) or above 50 °C (122 °F).

The shift lever is in any gearother than D (Drive).

The battery has been recently disconnected.

The battery charge is low.

The interior comfort level has not reached the required level for the climate control system or defog settings. Use the eco (green indicator on) air conditioning mode for better efficiency. See Climate Control Systems 0 207 and Dual Automatic Climate Control System 0 210.

The Auto Stop time is greater than two minutes

Also, when the engine stops in auto stop, the blower motor automatically goes to low speed. Once the engine starts again, normal blower speed resumes. Some models do not have an option to manually disable auto start. It sounds like everything is working as it should by your description.

It’s all fun and games until the starter needs replacing.
