97 Town and Country aka Beater Flood Victim

When I am driving my car it will drive fine however, when I slow or take my foot off of the gas pedal to stop my car will stall. I am able to put the car in nuetral and turn it back on and drive againg but when I need to stop it stalls again. What could this be?

You state that it has been flooded? How much water got in to the car? 1 or 2 inches? Was up to the seats? Dash? Anything over 1 inch on the floor I would not drive it. If you answer yes to any of these questions ,the problems are just going to get worse. Time to junk it. Its not safe to drive.

I work as a auto adjuster for storm work. I worked the the Sandy storm. I seen many cars do this with just 1 inch of water in the car. I seen seats that started on fire from shorted wires under the seat. Air bags go off with out warning while driving. This just some of things go wrong.

More than likely the problem is with a dirty/defective Idle Air Control valve. The IAC valve is mounted on the throttle body and as it’s name implies it allows the engine to idle anytime the accelerator is released.

Here’s what the IAC valve looks like. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQChryslerQQTown_-and-_CountryQQReplacementQQIdle_Control_ValveQQ19901997QQREPC313203.html
