96 caravan ticking

My 96 caravan 3.0 is ticking, I am pretty sure it is coming from a rocker arm as the noise is coming from the valve cover region. It gets better just after a fresh oil change, almost no tick, but the tick progressively gets worse starting at about 1000 miles after oil change and at about 2500 the oil begins to turn from brown to black and the tick gets a lot louder. Is this something that I should be concerned about and what can I do to fix it?

[b]The ticking noise might from a sticky lifter.

Try adding a half a can of SeaFoam engine tuneup to the engine oil at your next oil change. The stodard solvent in the SeaFoam can sometimes clean the gum and varnish that causes sticky lifters.

I’ll try that, I have tried some other additives but not that one yet

I had a car years ago that ticked like an old sewing machine. Rislone worked for me… Might be worth a try…

someone also mentioned adding a pint of ATF. I’ll try em and see what works
