I have a 95 Honda Accord EX-V6 with 165K miles. It is an automatic transmission. When cruising on at any speed, 30 or 65 mph, the rpm readout jumps to 0rpm back to 3000rpm for a few seconds. Car is not jerking or is it shifting gears, speed holds constant. Is this something I should be concerned about and is it worthwile fixing?
Unless it’s a failing tach problem, this is usually caused by a failing ignition module or worn distributor; usually the latter.
Remove the distributor cap and note if you can move the dist. rotor/shaft sideways. There should be no, or close to it, movement in the shaft at all.
