Driving in the heat of Texas, the car seemed to heat up more than usual. I stopped to check it and then returned to driving. The car would not go forward. It would go backward. I allowed it to cool then it went forward.

When you checked the transmission fluid, was the level below the full mark?
What was the color of the fluid?
Did the fluid have a burnt odor?

You DID check the transmisson fluid before continuing to drive the car, didn’t you?

The transmission fluid looked fine. It was normal level and normal color. It did not smell burnt. I took the car home another 1000 miles with no other problem. It is still a consern because if it isn’t the transmisson I don’t want to replace it.
