'92 Corolla brake noise

My '92 Corolla’s brakes make a sort of rubbery groaning noise when I release the brake pedal after I have come to a complete stop (at a light or stop sign, e.g.) Does anyone know the cause and how this can be corrected?

It can’t be discovered what’s causing the brake noise until the brake components are inspected. It could be anything from worn brake pads/rotors to sticking calipers and/or their hardware.
