My SUV radio worked very well then my windshield was smashed. After replacing it I hear a lot of static on my radio and it doesn’t seem to have much of a range with local stations.
The smashed windshield had a radio antenna down the middle as does the replacement. Could it be that the mechanic didn’t attach the antenna? That’s what I suspect.
Can anybody tell me how I would check if the antenna is actually connected properly?
Thank you.
Do you have any AM reception at all? If the antenna was not connected you would not have any AM at all.
There was a problem with the Chevy Malibu (1997 and on) people were complaining about no AM, FM was OK not great. The Malibu has a radio antenna splice right where the passengers right foot rests, the connection was always being pulled apart. I must have re-connect 40-50 cars for this problem, paid .5hrs took 2min. (all warranty)one of the few warranty jobs you make out on.
Your SUV has a built in antenna for AM in the windshield. The new windshield didn’t come with the Antenna or they didn’t connect it. Either way the windshield has to be removed.
