6 Month Review - 2024 Subaru Outback Limited

Things I like - Fit and Finish - Safety features do just what they are supposed to do ( really like the Adaptive Cruise Control ) - Redundant speed between dial and digital plus what the speed is for the road where you are.

Just OK - The Touch screen took some getting used to as I prefer keyboard and a mouse. But I under stand the purpose because of all the setting that vehicles now have

Minor complaints - The hood release under the dash is unconfortable for my arthritic hands - The prop bar for the hood is atttached to the hood and a little awkward to use ( the first time I stood there holding the hood up looking for the prop bar for a couple of minutes )

This vehicle was purchased because of the wifes health problems and the Handicap stuff we had to take with us . It is easy for her to enter and exit and the ride is comfortable and that is all that matters.

This vehicle met almost all of the things on our list of features and the price seemed resonable by today’s market.

Congrats on your purchase. Like you said, the vehicle meets your needs and went beyond, and that’s a good thing.

I’m also not a fan of touchscreen technology as I find such to be a distraction and increase the likelihood of an accident.

My Lexus has a control pad, and what I love about it is that the control pad helps you accomplish a task with little effort from the driver’s end , making it safe and non-distracting while in motion.

For example. If I were on my way home from a strange place and got detoured and I didn’t know my way around, I would only need to press “ menu” on the control center ( next to the lever ) without my eyes being taken off the road and reach for the control pad, which is next to “ menu “ and the pad would help me locate “ HOME “ without much effort on my end.

With a touchscreen, I would need to stretch my arm towards the windshield, take my eyes off the road as I look for details on the screen, and make multiple attempts to touch there and there, and I’m likely to miss my target while the car is moving.

By default, we are not to operate a GPS while driving but my Lexus IS makes operating the screen while driving non-problematic.

It baffles me that many people complained to Lexus about the control pad being “ outdated “ and requested that the screen be touch-sensitive.

Anyways, I’m glad to hear that you and your wife are happy with your purchase.
