I have a 2003 Acura MDX with 182,000 miles. I had the timing belt replaced at the dealer at 90,000 miles. I use an independent garage now for routine maintenance. It still runs great.
Do I need to replace the belt again? Should I take it back to the dealer for the belt replacement?
You should ABSOLUTELY replace the belt again if you wish to keep this SUV. This engine is an interference fit, and a snapped belt will destroy it.
However, you can take it to a competent independent mechanic to replace the belt. You don’t need the dealer. An independent mechanic will charge you much less typically.
