2026 El Camino Clickbait

It seems someone has put AI in use to make people think GM will reveve the El Camino nameplate. Apparently that is not going to happen. I would have been a buyer if it did happen and stayed close to the original design.

A few years ago, there was a “news article” published on April 1, which claimed that FCA was going to revive the Plymouth nameplate, and release a new economy car, which would be called the Plymouth Sundance. The cleverly written article said that the Plymouth Sundance and two other models would be unveiled at the Boston South Auto Show, or BS Auto Show for short. Sadly it was just an April Fool’s Day joke, and no one is producing a low-cost vehicle for the US market anymore.

Been rumors for awhile but even with the Maverick selling well they’ve only talked-about it. There were buyers who said they wanted the holden use to be sold here but not enough for gm.

Holdens were sold in the US… One as the Pontiac GTO and the other as the Chevy SS.

But sadly no ute versions of either.

Given the state of AI, realistic videos are very possible… walking, talking and looking exactly like well known people. All fake but looking very genuine.

Yes, they are possible when it comes to people, but each week I get at least one clickbait item in my newsfeed showing “the new xxxxxx model” from Toyota/Chrysler/Bentley/BMW, etc. After viewing the first two or three, I learned that these always-bizarre images are just weird AI creations, and have nothing to do with reality.

Many of them have embarrassingly-stupid mistakes, such as rear doors that lack a panel gap, and are apparently part of the rear fender.
