Air bags need fixed and car won’t start
Air bags are probably being recalled so you need to call the dealer…
Do you have gas in it, do you trust your gauges (had to ask lol)???
Is your battery good???
We need more info on what you mean your car won’t start… a little history on the vehicle, like has it been sitting in a field for the last 2 years? Is the engine turning over?? Clicking noise???
Have you been changing the oil in it or have you just drove it to the engine locked up???
What happens when you try to start it???
Help us with a lot more info, Marie. Was the car in an accident? We’d be surprised if a car only three years old needed airbags and they were not handled by the dealer.
Engine won’t start could be one of two problems: First step is to determine which of the two problem you are experiencing? Do you hear the normal “rrr rrrr rrrr” sound with key in “start”, meaning the engine is cranking? But it won’t catch and run? Or do you hear nothing, or just a click with key in “start”?
There are no current recalls or investigations for the 2020 Chevrolet Trax.
On a 3 year old vehicle, the airbags are definitely covered by the mfr’s warranty–unless there is damage resulting from a collision. The vehicle came with a 5 year/60k mile Powertrain warranty, so unless the OP has driven it more than 60k miles, there is a fairly good likelihood that the starting problem could be covered by that warranty.
Of course, there are exceptions in the Powertrain Warranty coverage, including the battery, timing belt, sensors, wiring, and wiring connectors, so there is a possibility that the source of the starting problem won’t be covered by warranty, but–IMHO–the OP would be foolish if she didn’t start with the dealership for both problems.
Even if they deny warranty coverage for the starting problem, they are almost surely on the hook for resolving the airbag problem.
Start the diagnosis and repair process with a GM dealership.
