Has the check engine or other dashboard warning light been on? Suggest to ask your shop to test the accelerator-pedal/throttle-body functions. And ask them to make sure the floor mats aren’t interfering with any of the foot pedals.
Probably the most common reason for this problem is the driver inadvertently presses on the wrong pedal; i.e. presses on the accel pedal when they want to press on the brake pedal. Or they press both pedals at once. More likely with inexperienced drivers or a driver who is relatively new to driving this vehicle. Do either apply?
