2018 Nissan Sentra - New or used?

bought a 2018 nissan sentra in october of 2018 and it already had 17 miles on it; can my car be considered a new car?

Not now but it was when you bought it . Why are you even asking this question ?

My 2002 new truck had 248 miles on it when I bought it. The exact distance from my dealer to the one where the truck I wanted was.

It was still a new truck when I bought it.

No, its a used car because it a 2018 model year.

The model year isn’t relevant in determining if it’s considered new or used. For example, if it’s a previously unregistered 2018 with 100 miles on it, it is still considered a new car. It would have to be significantly discounted for me to buy it however…

It is even possible for a dealer to have a two year old “new” car on the lot. Sometimes a model without popular options and the dealer has been sitting on it rather than discount it to make a sale.

Why do you ask? I’m curious.

If you’re the first person that it’s registered to (other than the selling dealership), then it’s a new car. Most new cars will have at least a few miles on them as a result of being moved around lots or a couple test drives before they are sold.
