I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3 engine and I was looking for some shock/strut recommendation’s. My truck is stock height. Not looking to break the bank either. I was checking on some of the reviews in regards to the rancho’s being too bouncy or the Rough country’s being not a great quality. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
1500, 2500, 3500, RWD or 4X4, engine??
sorry 1500
4wd 5.3 engine
Are you sure you don’t have Magnetic Ride Control Suspension??
unsure…i would have to do some research
I have rancho’s installed currently…bought this preowned…47,000 miles
Edit: Considering you are replacing Ranchos at 5 years and 47K miles assume you do NOT like them or they’ve leaked. There is no other reason to replace them.
OE shocks, I think, are made by Tenneco (Monroe) so if you don’t like how they ride, don’t buy them as replacements. And Rancho is owned by Tenneco (Monroe) so if they leak, don’t buy Monroe OE parts (AC-Delco)
In that case, I would recommend KYB or Bilstein replacements. Both are mono-tube high pressure gas shocks built by good companies.
I have had Bilsteins on my '04 Avalanche (replacing the awful Tenneco shocks) for about 75,000 miles now and they work great.
Full disclosure… I used to work for GM-Delco designing testing and developing ride for shocks and struts.
Second the Bilsteins, I had a set for years on my '95 Suburban, good ride.
Also suggest to check what LMC Truck offers for your 08 Silverado. Google ‘LMC Truck 08 Silverado’
