2017 RAM 3500 - Starting issues

truck will not start all the time you turn on the key to start and nothing no dash lights no stater! turn key on and off for 5 to 10 min its and it may start.

Check for corroded and or loose battery cable terminal ends, as well as corroded cables…Have your battery(s) tested for free at your local auto parts store…

Besides DMP’s good idea above, other faults that can cause this symptom

  • Starter motor
  • Transmission safety switch
  • Ignition switch

When I have that symptom my first test is to measure the voltage at the thinner of the two wiring-harness wires connected to the starter motor. I probe between the terminal on the starter motor and the starter case. When key is in “start”, it should measure at least 10.5 volts. Suggest to ask your shop make that measurement, and if you like you are welcome to report the results here for more ideas.

No crank, been there, done that, definitely frustrating.

Besides all of the above advice, i would check with the dealer. there have been a few software updates fo no start/ no crank. here is one…

there also was a problem with ignition switches, but I can’t remember the years they had the problems with them.

Replace the starter relay. Likely in the fuse box underhood.

Sounds like a key/Wireless ignition node malfunction. This would require a technician for repair.
