Car was perfect for 24,000 miles and all of a sudden at 30mph the car started jerking and seemed to go to a lower gear then to a higher gear. After stopping at a bank, I started to back up and the car would not go into reverse. I had to have it towed to a Chevrolet dealership and was told that it may be months to get it repaired as it was 11th vehicle with similar problems waiting for repair. What will I have to do in the meantime for a vehicle to drive? I have been a GM owner since I was 16 years old in 1956.
Talk to your dealer and try to get a loaner from them. Otherwise, walk, take the bus, or rent a car.

Call another chevy dealer. See if they have a shorter wait time.
If they do, the first dealer may suddenly have an opening.
It wouldn’t hurt…if you have bought many cars from this dealer…to make a little bit of a fuss about the long wait time.

Unfortunately that may not mean much the way dealerships change hands anymore. We have one near us that has had 4 different names on it in the last 18 years and last month it closed and moved to a new facility 20 miles away.
