2016 Buick Encore - Lights

just bought a 2016 buick encore. used car. last night first night to drive needing headlights. i was struggling to see a good distance in front of me, they do not light far enough ahead. i kept asking my passenger , can you see? and they said not very far. i couldn’t wait for un coming traffic to pass so i could use my high beams. everything else ok with car but this is a dangerous situation esp. living in the country with deer running across the road.

Does your Buick use Halogen bulbs or HID? They bulbs could be nearing the end of their life expectancy. If they’re Halogen hopefully they won’t be hard to replace, if they’re HID you may want to take them to a shop as they can be dangerous to work on due to high voltage. Do the lenses themselves look cloudy? I wouldn’t think so after 3 years necessarily, but that could also be a possibility and there are lots of products out there that can be used to clear up cloudy lenses

Are you sure you have your headlights turned on, and that it’s not your daytime running lights?

Check and see if your tail lights are on,

You wouldn’t believe the number of cars I see going down the road with only their daytime running lights on and no tail lights, just because your dash is lit up doesn’t mean your lights are on.

From the IIHS testing of the 2016 Buick Encore: “Low beams: On the straightaway, visibility was inadequate on both sides of the road. On curves, visibility was inadequate in all 4 tests.”
