I’m having a problem with my 2015 Kia Soul showing a P0441 code intermittently. I’ve had the purge valve and solenoid replaced within the last 10 months. No more issues until yesterday when the check engine light came back on. I plugged in my code reader and it’s showing the same P0441 code again. Also, it was rough idiling and I thought I heard it back fire when I put it in park this morning. Any idea where to start again? I’m not a mechanic and I’ve already paid $1,500 towards other repairs recently…any insight?
So you aren’t going to do this yourself so… I’d suggest you find a better mechanic. Clearly the last one did not do a through job. Or it might be a new problem throwing the same code.
In the meantime, if this car has a gas cap, I’d suggest tightening your gas cap or buy a new one from the Kia dealer. There is slight chance it might fix it but it is cheap and easy for you to try.
Thanks, I replaced the gas cap about 10 months ago too.
With a Kia dealer part or an auto parts store??
The code means the evap system’s pressure isn’t what it is supposed to be. Problem could be
- purge valve
- vent valve
- vacuum pump
- pressure sensor
- wiring harness
- leak (fuel tank or hose)
Since there are many possibilities, suggest to find a shop having the Kia scan tool. They’ll be able turn the valves on and off and read the pressure sensor and eventually figure it out. It’s like finding why a tire leaks air and goes flat, have to do some experiments.
There’s another poster today (10.24.23) w/similar problem (Ford Fiesta). Might be helpful to also look at the comments there.
