2015 Ford F-150 passenger seat counterweight

Anyone ever heard of the front passenger seat counterweight breaking loose/vibrating badly?

Is that part of the seat belt ass’y?

New to me.

Just doing a quick Google search shows that this is a common problem. Ford calls it a damper. It’s a weight suspended just under the headrest on 4 rubber bands that break. I guess it’s supposed to keep the seat back from vibrating or jiggling or shaking or whatever. The seat back cover needs to be removed to access the damper.

Googling suggests the purpose of the counter-weight (at least on some cars) is to lock the seat back in the upright position and prevent it from hinging forward in the event of a collision.
