Won’t shift out of park, I was told it might be a shift solenoid. is this an ongoing / common issue?

All vehicles with automatic transmissions require that the brake pedal be depressed to shift out of park.

The brake pedal switch may be faulty.

Tester

Look to see if there’s manual release mechanism you can use to shift out of P, until you actually get it fixed. There may be a label nearby, BTSI Override.
