Do you mean the insulation that keeps the engine heat from discoloring the paint ?
I suppose there’s one way to find out.

Why do you want to remove it ? If this is the insulation that is fastened to the hood vehicles went years with out such a thing .
Was it mice?
I assume the manufacturer put it there for a reason. If you remove it, you’re likely to discover that reason.

It is there for a couple of reasons. Keeps heat of hood to slow down paint discoloring
Noise
If it’s your truck it’s ok with me if you do anything you want to it.
