2014 Hyundai Elantra - how do I know work gets done?

I received notice from Hyundai for two recalls: Anti theft software update and Rust Preventive V/undercoating Aero. I took the car in July 13, 2023, for that service at the Hyundai dealer . But how do I know they actually performed the services? Second, my check-engine light was on and a self-smoke test detected a leak at “canister assembly due to crack.” I ordered the part, but, again, how do I know the part will be replaced?

When the check engine light is off and stays off.
you need to have some trust in the dealer to do the work. If for some reason you do not trust this particular dealer, then you should find another one.

Just my opinion, best bet in this situation is to trust the dealership shop until/unless you have an actual reason not to. Keep all the paperwork and make time/dated notes of all your verbal conversations & who you were speaking with, of course. If the trust idea doesn’t work for you, next option, ask a second shop to take a look- see afterward to verify the work was actually done. For verifying the canister is actually replaced, another option, ask second shop to make a small mark on it. Mark won’t be there if canister is replaced. It’s very unlikely a dealership would charge you for replacing a canister, then not replace it. If something like that happens at a shop, most likely the shop tech started the job, got distracted by a phone call, and forgot to finish.
