transmission hesitation and whine
I’m going to assume your Outback has an automatic transmission. If it has a transmission dipstick, check the fluid according to the instructions in your Owner’s Manual. If it’s low, find out what transmission fluid your Outback needs and add not low, or burnt looking/smelling, take it to a good independent transmission shop. You might get lucky and it just needs the fluid changed.
