2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid - Steering issues

The steering is unstable and the front tires have worn unevenly. I took it to a mechanic who said it was fine. The car continues to dance around the road often feeling like it will go out of control when hitting a bump or rut. It feels like we could end up in a major accident at any time. What do you think?

I think you need to find a better mechanic before you hurt yourself or someone else.

You should find a vehicle that you can manage, if the steering on this vehicle doesn’t suit you, find one that does.

Number 1 You need a better mechanic.
Number 2 How many miles on your car?
Number 3 It’s going on eight years old, when did this start?
You need a complete inspection of all front end suspension and steering components including the possibility of new struts. Then when all has been diagnosed, replacement/repaired components performed, new tires and finish off with an alignment.
Research tires for your driving conditions and performance characteristics, I suggest tirerack.com there are other source for research.
I would have rear suspension inspected too, if front struts are needed, I would be inclined to do rears too.
