So I’ll be driving and out of no where you’ll start hearing static or nothing at all. When this happens I give it a little love tap and it works again. Any ideas on what could be the issue?
Where exactly are you tapping?

Disconnect the speaker and see if it still happens. Replace a bad speaker. If not the speaker, then likely a faulty circuit board or cold solder joint. Gonna have to go to a dealer repair facility or just replace it.

Have you touched/replaced HU?
Could be a problematic connection at the antenna input. Try disconnecting and reconnecting.
I had a similar problem recently with a portable mp3 player. Problem turned out to be two broken solder joints at the audio-mini-jack/printed circuit interface. Re-soldering was the fix.
