It’s probably the multi-function switch. Probably the price of the part isn’t super-expensive, but the steering wheel may need to be removed to replace it. Ask your shop if there’s any chance spraying some contact cleaner into the switch might work. Don’t try this unless someone with expertise repairing BMW’s says it is ok to try.
There is a software update for the Front Electronics Module to correct an intermittent problem of the turn signals flashing quickly or not at all. See your BMW dealer.
