My battery died one day so we replaced it, then my whole infotainment screen went out, no radio, no back up camera, can’t see controls for air and heat. The whole screen is black. Brought it to a mechanic - replaced entire center display and still nothing.
Sorry you are having this frustrating problem. Are there any diagnostic codes stored in the obd ii computer memory? Have the pertinent fuses been checked?

Fuses were checked. This is the print out from the dealership but they wanted $500 to “look into it” and I didn’t want to pay that at the moment.
Thanks for posting the diagnostic code analysis (DTC ) There appear to be two separate computer modules w/initials ICM. Infotainment control module, and Internal Control module. It is possible that may be confusing the diagnosis. My guess is the problem is with the Internal Control Module rather than the infotainment control module. Suggest to ask the shop if the ICM software incompatibility code might be where to focus attention? Maybe some sort of software update or initialization is needed. . I understand you’d prefer not to pay $500 just to have the techs “look into it”. But that the only way to make progress toward a fix imho. This problem may require using a dealership, with access to all the oem Volvo software diagnostic tools for you car. Frustrating, but comes with highly computerized cars.
Note : you seem to have a couple of engine diagnostic codes that need fixing, but these may be unrelated to the current problem.

I forgot to mention the dealership did say that we shouldn’t need a software update, they basically said from this report it’s not getting power to it and we should take it back to the original mechanic who replaced the whole screen. Unfortunately he is MIA and we can no longer get in touch with him. The dealership also told us that they don’t work on any volvo’s older than 10 years and well this is a 2012 so if they could “identify the issue” for $500 they will not do the work on it. I was hoping someone else has had this issue and could give some insight. Thanks so much for your response!
I don’t think I"ve ever heard that restriction from a dealership before. But both of my cars are diy’ered, & much older than that, so maybe this is commonly done now, To other posters here: Have you also come across this 10-year-limit dealership restricton? .
The display is usually just a display, like with a desk top computer. The display is usually powered by a separate module: Audio receiver, navigation computer, back up display module etc.
I have worked for dealers with an aged-out vehicle policy. I have also been forced to diagnose electrical problems on 25-year-old cars despite no replacement parts being available.
