2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid - EV mode issue

Toyota Camry 2012 hybrid:
When it enters into EV mode and you fire the throttle, EV mode goes out, what can be the fault

How long do you have this car?

I would assume it is a normal behavior to cancel EV mode if you push on the gas above certain point.

This is gas/electric car in the end, not a plugin-electric, which has enough battery and electric drive to propel itself within the full acceleration force range.

Yeah, pretty sure that’s what it’s supposed to do. Not a plug-in, the didn’t make a plug in Camry Hybrid. So if you ask for more acceleration than the limited battery/motor can provide, the engine will start.

From your owners manual:

â– Automatic cancellation of EV drive mode
When driving in EV drive mode, the gasoline engine may automatically
restart in the following situations. When EV drive mode is canceled, a buzzer
will sound and the EV drive mode indicator will flash and go off.
â—ŹThe hybrid battery (traction battery) becomes low.
The remaining battery level indicated in the “Energy Monitor” display is
low. (ď‚®P. 39)
â—ŹVehicle speed becomes more than about 25 mph (40 km/h).
â—ŹThe accelerator pedal is depressed firmly or the vehicle is on a hill etc.
â– Possible driving distance when driving in EV drive mode
EV drive mode’s possible driving distance ranges from a few hundred yards
(a few hundred meters) to approximately 1.3 miles (2 km). Driving is possible
at speeds of less than approximately 25 mph (40 km/h). However, depending on vehicle conditions, there are situations when EV drive mode cannot
be used.
