Bought a Sonata Limited with 5500 miles on it from local dealership. Soon after I noticed that the cruise did not always engage. Problem is that when I brought it in for service, no one was able to duplicate the problem. Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas about what to do?
Thanks.
Read your owners manual for starters. Some CC’s will not engage below a certain speed. There are a myriad of things that can cause a CC malfunction but the best best is to read your owners manual and get acquainted with the CC system on your Hyundai.
I have a 2011 Sonata and sometimes I have a problem where the CC will engage, but pressing the accelerate or coast buttons on the steering wheel can cause the CC to disengage. If it happens, it is when I first get on the highway, but it usually goes away after using the CC for a little while. To me it seems like there is a loose connection or a wire is crossed, but I have not had it looked at so I don’t know.

I had the same problem with my 2011 Sonata. Finally got the dealer to change the cruise control switch on the steering wheel. Solved the problem. However, after a year the problem is back. I use the cruise control a lot and it seems that I am wearing out the switch. I think they need a more reliable switch in the unit. I now have to bring the car in again and convince them to change it again. I am so frustrated with Hyundai due to other problems that I am thinking about the Lemon Law.
My problem is with our 2012 hyundai sonata and the cruise control - when it is engaged and going up a grade it loses power and when it gets to going very slow I try to reengage it and it does not work so I press on the gas pedal and nothing happens for a few seconds and then it surges ahead and then finally picks up speed. Have been to the service department twice and nothing can be done. Anybody having this problem?
