2012 Hyundai Sonata - cost to fix broken wheel stud

My car had a flat tire. While changing it, one of the lug nuts got stuck and the screw that supports it (nut bolt or stud?) ended up breaking. How expensive is it to replace and can a car be safely used with only 4 secured bolts instead of all 5 (while we fix it)?

You broke a wheel stud. I wouldn’t recommend driving around on 4 lugs but it can be done with reasonable safety.

The stud itself is about $3.00, the labor to replace it is maybe 1/2 hour of shop time, so $50 to $70 or so depending on where you live.

Please get it fixed quickly.

You can drive indefinitely with 4 out of 5 lug nuts. I base that opinion on Nascar having to make a rule change to stop teams from only putting on 3 of 5 lug nuts to save time on pit stops. And they are going 200 mph!
