I got an airbag recall and when I went to the dealer to have it replaced they said the passenger seat and belt failed. It will cost $1,100 to replace the seat and belt. Really? If it has to be done to before replacing the airbag, why don’t they fix whatever failed in the seat instead of selling me a new one?

Demand that the dealer only perform what’s required in the recall.
It’s the last recall listed.

The diagnosis sounds a little fishy. Was the car in an accident with someone sitting in the passenger seat?

We need a more compete description of what (mechanical, electrical, etc.) failed in the seat. And why it can’t be repaired. Were you aware of a problem with the seat?
A used good seat from an auto recycler may take care of it.
