I got the “low fuel rack pressure” code. After a wile the car stalled in the highway. After 5min I was able to start and run it with no problem. 2nd time it happen I got to my mechanic and he replaced the low pressure fuel pump. The new pump was a noisy one (from China). The car run for a couple of days and then did the same. I got the HPFP changed with one that looked OEM (made in Czech). Same problem. What should I check/change?
The problem may not be the fuel pump(s), but instead a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor. Suggest as a first step to ask your shop to measure the fuel rail pressure w/their own shop gauge. Second step,if possible maintain possession of the pump(s) you’ve already removed, esp if they are the original oem pumps that came with the car new. They may come in handy.
Your mechanic.
Take the car to a well rated independent shop. Tell them what you told us and let them diagnose the problem. Don’t just tell them what to replace. You will pay for that time but this will be cheaper than tossing parts at it hoping something fixes it.
