2011 Kia Sorento occasionally won’t start

occasionally this car won’t start, i.e., it won’t crank at all; the interior lights all come on but no sound when key is turned. after several tries (sometimes 5 to 20 minutes) it finally cranks and starts immediately

Any chance that you just need a new battery ? That is my first guess from cyber space . Second guess is the brake or clutch switch is faulty .

already put new battery in it, no help…thanks for tip about brake or clutch switch

My third guess after Mr. Volvo’s excellent two, is to get new battery cables.

The next time the engine won’t start, with the dash lights on, step on the brake pedal, shift the transmission into neutral and then try starting the engine.

If the engine starts, there’s a problem with the park/neutral safety switch.
