Hi! I have an E92 335i. When I steer fully to left or right, it makes a hissing sound and even affecting the rpm a bit. What do you think could be the problem. Thank you!
Every car I’ve owned with hydraulic power steering has made what might be described as “protesting noises” when the wheel was turned fully left or right. If this is something beyond that the power steering fluid might be low or the system might benefit from being flushed.
Is this a new problem? How long have you owned it? Dave’s comments are what I’d also say.
Not a problem.
When you do that, the power steering pressure sensor sends a signal to the computer to bump the idle up so the engine doesn’t stall from the load the power steering pump puts on the engine.
Just don’t do it!
Tester
