I recently bought a used 2010 Chrysler Town and Country. I love it…but sometimes when I shift from park to drive, the transmission “clunks” into gear. (I have my foot on the brake and the car is not moving.) Not all the time, but I think it should never do that. When I bought the car I asked the dealer’s mechanic about it and he replied, “That’s a common problem with this vehicle.” Really? Can you set me straight…do I need to do something with my transmission? Thank you for your help!
High idle, bad C.V. joints, worn ball joints, worn motor mounts, bad u-joints (if 4WD), lower control arms, transmission pump regulator, are some of the things that can cause this.
