A friends car lost power coming off a motorway in Uk thinks 2 stp lights come on and garage cant find a fault and does anyone have any idea what could be cause of it?

Not understanding what you mean by “thinks 2 stp lights come”
I presume it won’t start now either. Those symptoms are often caused by either a no-fuel or no-spark problem. Are you sure there is plenty of gasoline in the tank?
If you mean that the engine shut off without warning and wouldn’t restart, that could mean the crankshaft position sensor has failed.
And when a crankshaft position sensor fails, it doesn’t always turn on the Check Engine light or set a code. Making it harder to find the problem.
