My 2009 Toyota Rav 4 makes a grinding sound when starting that sounds like someone dropped a spoon in a blender. The dealer said it wasn’t worth fixing, perhaps because of the age of the car. Once in a while the car makes a similar noise when I’m slowly accelerating and reach 35 or 40 mph. Once past that point the noise stops. I also mentioned this to the dealer but of course when test driving the car it failed to make the noise. The car was purchased new has has been serviced regularly. I just crossed the 79,000 mile mark on the odometer. Any idea as to what I’m dealing with? Thanks. Bob Daley
You need an independent mechanic or try a different dealership.
To pay for a diagnosis then only get “wasn’t worth fixing” is, IMHO, unacceptable.
