2008 Lexus ES 350 - Lights come on but no ignition sound

I’m trying to start my 2008 Lexus ES 350 that hasn’t been run in a couple weeks. It seems the battery died, so I charged it and tried jump starting it, but even though the lights on the dash come on, I don’t hear the noise of it trying to start the engine. The key fobs have battery life and are working normally so that’s not the issue. Any ideas?

Turn the ignition on so the dash lights come on, step on the brake pedal and shift the transmission into neutral and then try starting the engine.

If the engine starts, there’s a problem with the park/neutral safety switch.

The security modules can come out of sync if the battery is disconnected with the ignition on.

Switch the ignition off, close and lock the doors, unlock the doors and try to start the engine.

Check the battery connections, make sure they’re clean and tight.

Your ES is about the same age as mine was when the starter’s solenoid contacts wore out. It’s a common Toyota/Lexus problem.

How many miles? Is it the original starter?

It turned out the starter was bad so it’s been replaced and is now running fine.
