2008 Jaguar XJ8 - Threw a rod - Totaled?

Well maybe if you were a highly skilled technician or very clever DIY. You’re talking here about programming, welding, fabrication and we still haven’t hooked up all the accessories.

Personally, I can’t see all that blood and sweat on a car that you could just replace for less money–and have a much nicer car to drive besides.

Also, I don’t really understand how a modded car ends up being any more reliable.

Tell you one thing—very few shops would even touch a car like that if it needed sorting.

Here in Northeast Oklahoma I know of 4 places that would put that Jaguar back on the road if that is what the owners wanted.

I meant shops don’t like messing with molded cars. Sure, stock xj8s of that era aren’t too bad to work on.

Car Complaint/Ask someone posters receive an email response for each reply to the thread. After a few replies they probably believe Car Talk stinks. Is there any wonder why they don’t participate in the debates?

You guys can carry on like this is a chat room but that isn’t what the visitors expect.

Any time a new poster happens by, I remember that they haven’t been here many times, if at all. Flip answers to questions that we get often don’t encourage repeat visits. Telling them to search the website are a turn-off too.

SBC/Jaguar engine swaps were pretty common with the old XJ6, with kits available. Not so much with the XJ8.

Funny, never heard of a mechanic not asking questions when a customer drops off a vehicle without given much or any information?? Ever go to a doctor, down here in the south they ask a lot of questions, why would asking questions while trying to help a customer be any different, including asking a member questions???..

There is one respondent that defends these posters not responding to legitimate questions.
I agree, people ask questions to gain a knowledge of the problem. The doctor example is good.

“Doctor, I have a pain” Doctor: “Where?” Patient: Silence, no response.
