2008 Ford Ranger - Fuel cap light

Fuel cap and check engine lights are on for no apparent reason.

Kathy, the check engine light is on for reason. If you are in the US Autozone might read the codes. Post them here and you will get better answers.

Are you turning the cap at least 3 clicks after fueling to make sure it’s closed tightly? If not do this and see if the fuel cap light goes away. Another poster here also recommends smearing a little petroleum jelly on the gasket before tightening it to test if the cap goes back (if the light goes off after smearing the jelly on it, the cap is bad. Go ahead and replace it)

I will take it there.

Thanks.
