I have a 2008 ford fusion sel and some times when i apply the brake pedal it goes even with the gas pedal and makes the car try to surge . is the brake pedal traveling to far down to cause this problem and if so do i have a ABS hydraulic control unit problem and if so what do i need to do to correct the problem thanking you in advance.
if I am understanding this, it sounds more like a big foot kind of problem: when you hit the brake pedal, your foot (or floormat, or some other foreign object,) is also hitting the gas pedal. Does that sound like a possibility?
Do you have a Check Engine Light or ABS light on?
I think that this problem could be symptomatic of a defective power brake booster which is leaking the necessary vacuum at certain times.
