Maybe you need a better mechanic??
Lots of things can make thumping noises. The tires certainly can, for a lot of reasons. I suspect you are not going to do the work yourself so I’d look for a good independent shop to investigate this for you. Expect to pay them for their time even if they decide the noise is not a serious issue and can be left alone.
