2007 Ford Escape - Small oil leak

Have a small front end oil leak. Have been told it is the rear trans axil that is leaking. Any idea what repair cost would be?

No idea what the cost would be . Your location , what type of shop and if the leak is actually what someone said it is . You can have a shop look at it and give you an estiment than decide if you want to spend the money .

Is it a 2.3L (4cylinder), 2.3L Hybrid (4 cylinder) or 3.0L (6 cylinder)
Next is it a FWD or AWD???
Do you know if left (drivers) side or right (passenger) side axle
or is it the output shaft seal going to the rear driveshaft of the AWD unit???

Your car only has one transaxle, located behind engine. I’m assuming it is configured as standard FWD. One common leak area is where a half-shaft connects to the transmission. There’s a seal on each side there, maybe one or both of those seals needs to be replaced. Parts cost very little, but labor involved. You could get an idea about how much labor by finding the amount of labor to replace a half-shaft. You can probably get that info at a website like www.repairpal.com

Another idea, ask the shop who diagnosed the leak in the first place. They shouldn’t have much difficulty to to tell you the estimated repair cost.
